Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 16, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Laman collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the platform.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account data (for example: name, email, profile image, and account slug).
- Project data (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, project metadata, and publish state).
- Template data (template metadata, access settings, thumbnails, preview content, and creator attribution).
- Attribution and watermark metadata (creator identity, template source identifiers, and generation timestamps embedded in output files).
- Intellectual property records (template ownership associations, licensing states, and access request logs for private templates).
- Operational and security data (session/authentication metadata, errors, abuse signals, and basic logs).
- Public route data for projects you choose to publish.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to operate and improve Laman, including to:
- authenticate users and secure accounts;
- store, render, and serve project previews and published content;
- associate templates with their creators and enforce licensing terms set out in our Terms of Service;
- embed attribution metadata in generated output to support copyright identification and enforcement;
- provide editor and collaboration-related functionality;
- monitor reliability, detect abuse, and respond to incidents, including intellectual property violations;
- comply with legal obligations.
4. Published vs Private Content
Projects marked as published may be publicly accessible via project routes. Unpublished content is intended to remain account-private except when explicitly shared through controlled access paths (for example, time-limited preview links).
Templates marked as public may be visible and accessible to other users, including template metadata and preview content. Private templates are intended to remain account-private unless you explicitly share access.
Public templates may appear in catalogs or search results, and their details (for example: title, description, tags, and thumbnails) may be displayed to support discovery. Public preview content or routes may be cached for performance.
Private templates are not listed publicly. If you share a template link, recipients may access the shared content and may forward the link to others.
5. Template Ownership and Attribution Data
Laman records and maintains creator attribution for all templates on the platform. This includes:
- the account identity of the template creator;
- the template's access state (public or private);
- timestamps of template creation, modification, and publication;
- identifiers linking output projects to their source templates.
This data is used to enforce creator rights, support copyright claims, and fulfill legal obligations under applicable intellectual property law. Creator attribution data associated with a template is not deleted upon account deactivation if the template remains active on the platform.
Generated output files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) produced by Laman's builder may contain embedded comments or metadata identifying the source template and creator. This attribution is included to support copyright identification and may be used as evidence in the event of a dispute.
6. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose data only when needed to:
- operate the service with trusted infrastructure/service providers;
- comply with legal requirements or valid governmental requests;
- protect users, the platform, and our legal rights;
- respond to valid copyright infringement notices, including disclosing relevant creator attribution or account information to parties asserting intellectual property rights in accordance with applicable law.
7. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security and auditability, and satisfy legal obligations. Template ownership records and attribution metadata may be retained beyond account deletion where required by applicable law or to resolve active disputes. Retention duration can vary by data category and operational requirements.
8. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
9. International Processing
Depending on infrastructure and providers, your data may be processed in jurisdictions different from your own. We take reasonable steps to apply appropriate protections.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of certain personal data. You may also manage project publication status directly in the product. Note that requests to delete attribution records associated with published templates may be subject to limitations where retention is required to protect third-party rights or comply with legal obligations.
11. Children's Privacy
Laman is not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children where prohibited.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the service after updates become effective indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
13. Contact
For privacy-related questions or requests, including questions about attribution data or intellectual property records, contact the Laman team through official project support channels.
